Safety, hypoxia and rescue planning
Freediver safety planning, intercept zone, hypoxic window and conservative decision-making.
Safety Planner Pro
Safety does not plan only the meeting depth, but primarily time. A sound buddy system is based on the dive profile, ascent speed, expected time in the critical zone and reserve for an unexpected delay.
Hypoxic Window Lab
A freediver can still be functional at 20 metres yet enter critical hypoxia during the last seconds of ascent. Safety therefore does not end at the buddy intercept — it continues through the surface protocol and stable recovery.
Conservative intercept
- A safety diver needs their own reserve and must never base rescue on a personal maximum.
- The intercept must respect expected time as well as depth, not a single number.
- After surfacing, monitor consciousness, breathing, coordination and the surface protocol.
- Never train hypoxia in water without competent supervision.
